Traveling to Idaho

Bordering the states of Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming and Montana, as well as the Canadian province of British Columbia, Idaho has many neighbors and just as many ways to get around. For those journeying by personal vehicle, Interstate 15 and US Highway 95 provide the easiest north-south travel while Interstates 90 and 84 are the biggest east-west routes.

Flying into Idaho is an easy alternative for out-of-state visitors, with Boise Airport (BOI) serving the southern regions of the state and Washington State's Spokane International Airport (GEG) offering the best access to northern Idaho. Idaho's Rocky Mountain location does occasionally create winter snowstorms and icy conditions, and during these months mountain travel should be undertaken with caution.
